About UCP Zambia

Umoyo Community Project Zambia Limited (UCP) is a non-governmental not for profit organization limited by guarantee registered under the laws of Zambia in May 2018 with PACRA and the Ministry of Community Development. The operations started in June 2018. UCP partners with the government of Zambia, the private sector and civil society to foster sustainable local solutions to community health related challenges.

Our Mission

To transform lives of the poor, affected and vulnerable populations using locally available resource with a dedicated team of community members and  professionals to provide sustainable and high impact community health services.

Goal
  • To contribute to high impact  of community health services by addressing health related  priority areas in  relation to gender, sexual reproductive health and rights , communicable and non-communicable diseases burden .

  • To contribute in a special way to the HIV epidemic control by providing HIV Testing Services optimization in the community and strengthening linkage to care at facility level and existing community support.

  • To provide social behavior change interventions around risk factors that drive the HIV epidemic in Zambia such as the negative gender norms.

  • To provide reproductive health and rights services in the community to contribute to the reduction of maternal mortality, young girl child vulnerability in particular and enhance child survival in Zambia in general

Governance and Management

UCP is governed by a Board of Directors consisting of majority Zambian Board members who each bring a wealth of expertise in various areas which makes UCP a strong and viable organization. The day to day programme implementation is managed by the Chief Executive Officer who is assisted by experienced Technical Director, Director Community Health Services (Deputy Chief Executive Officer), Director Finance and Administration and Director Monitoring and Evaluation. UCP employs talented and highly qualified staff with the necessary knowledge and skills to achieve the vision. UCP works with community volunteers (foot soldiers) selected in the community we are serving in order to maximize on the impact of the services it provides. The community volunteers are capacitated for them to effectively implement high impact interventions in the communities.

Geographical focus

Currently, UCP is operating in Lusaka District in collaboration with CIDRZ but it is a national wide project depending on the needs of the donor or supported partner.
